Short Term Care Option: Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing is a place to go to get professional Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and nursing care to recover from a stay in an acute care hospital stay. This should be a ‘short stay’ of 21 days or less and is usually paid for by Medicare.
When would I need skilled care?
After a hospitalization with a 3-day qualified stay there.
How do I find one?
The care managers at the hospital will set this up for you.
Who Pays for this?
Medicare and supplemental insurances pay for this care.
You should have little out of pocket costs unless you stay longer than 21 days. Then your pay % amounts depend upon how long you stay over the 21 days.
