Care Options Series Continued..(Last series post)
Hospice Care
Hospice is when Medicare ‘pays for’ end of life care, providing doctors, nurses, nursing aids, Chaplains, social workers, volunteers and much more, who help make the patient comfortable. This is usually the last resort when curative procedures no longer provide quality of life.
The doctor usually lets families know when Hospice care is appropriate, and will refer a Hospice agency to you.
You have a right to choose whichever Hospice agency you want, and do not have to use the one the doctor recommends.
You should have no out of pocket costs for Hospice.
