The Seven Habits of a Highly Effective Caregiver Series
#3 They Stick to the Care Plan
When the care plan is put into action, stick to it. Make sure everyone on board knows what is expected and when it is expected and don’t let them slack off. When someone offers to do more, let them. This will provide the primary caregiver extra respite and opportunity to refresh.
Create a calendar if needed (it is) and make sure everyone knows their role. Have a phone tree, and back-up plan (plan B) should someone be ill or unable to meet their commitment. Don’t say, “No problem, I can handle it” because you can’t! Remember that you cannot do it alone, you should not do it alone, and you deserve to have a team helping.
