Dear Jaynie,
My mom will not under any circumstances wear a “Life Alert” necklace because she doesn’t think it’s “cute enough”. I bought her one and she simply tossed it in a drawer where is being of no use whatsoever. I need to know she is safe when I take a little time to go to the store or run an errand. Any suggestions on what mom would call something with a little “bling” to it?

Dear Need some BLING for mom,
Well, this is a first. I know seniors can be difficult and defiant when it comes to wearing a “Medical Alert” type pendant, but only agreeing to wear one with “BLING” is definitely a first. Whatever works to get them to wear it for your sanity is what we should try to go along with, I suppose. I get that they don’t want to feel like they are losing their independence or that wearing one of these makes them feel like they are getting “old”. So, I did a little research and found a few items that might work. Let me know what you think or if you have found any other ideas that we can share with our community.
